The licence audit usually pays for the first few months of an engagement on its own. Dormant accounts, over-specified plans and duplicate subscriptions are almost always in there.
Backup is a separate product and we treat it as one. Microsoft keeps your tenant running; it does not keep a recoverable copy of what you delete past the retention window, and it will not stop a compromised account emptying a mailbox.
